How much do solar panels cost?
To explain a typical solar panel installation’s costs and benefits, here is an illustration of a south-facing, 12 panel, 4.38kW system.
- You would need 20m2 clear roof space for the solar panels
- It would create on average 2367kWh / year of useable electricity. It is worth noting that the average household consumption is 4000 kWh / year
- This would save you an average of £662 per year and calculated at 0.28p/KwH as of 1/4/2022
- Total cost of this solar panel installation is £4,750 with 0% VAT
This cost of solar example is based on using 365 watt solar panels measuring 1052x1776mm, standard on-roof fixings, relevant inverter, standard cabling and excludes scaffolding.
Why use a Solar battery?
Solar panels create electricity at the time it is generated – in the middle of the day, which is often when we are not in the house or requiring much electricity. By installing a solar battery system, we are able to save the generated energy and store it for when we need it, or even sell it back to the grid!
In this way we can improve the above illustration in useable output by 40% adding to the savings!
This illustration is the cost of the solar panel system with the simple addition of a battery
- It can create 3946 kWh / year
- This would save you an average of £1104 per year and calculated at 0.28p/KwH as of 1/4/2022
- Total cost of the solar panel and battery installation is £8,500 with 0% VAT
The above cost example is based on using 365 watt solar panels measuring 1052x1776mm, a 7.8kW Lux battery standard on roof fixings, relevant solar inverter, standard cabling, excludes scaffolding and assumes 100% usage.

Benefits of solar panels
Photovoltaic solar panels harness light to generate free, low-carbon electricity for use in your home or business, allowing you to significantly reduce your electricity bills and contribute to lowering our collective carbon footprint.
Why choose us for your solar panel installation?
Is my home or business suitable for Solar Panels?
You can fit solar panels to any house or flat area but its effectiveness can be restricted by these factors:

Shading
Partial or full shading due to other buildings or trees will reduce the amount of solar energy created.

Clear roof area
Solar panels measure 1052x1776mm and can be installed either horizontally and/or vertically to fit around chimneys/ roof lights and vents. Planning permissions may need to be sought in some areas but this normally only applies to the front aspect of properties.

Direction of your property
Ideally, solar panels work best facing south. They capture the solar energy from dawn until dusk. However if your property faces East or West you can split the number of solar panels and place on both sides of the roof to maximise the solar energy captured.

How do solar panels work?
Photovoltaic solar panels convert light into electricity. Each solar panel is made up of numerous silicon cells, which create an electrical flow once the sunlight activates the electrons in the panels.
A solar inverter connected to the solar panels converts the energy from DC to AC current to make it useable in the home or business and then takes this by cable to the electricity consumer unit (where your fuse box and trip switches are).
This electricity is then available for immediate use, if needed, or can be stored in a solar battery or exported to the grid.
